Performance and Capability

The 2018 Land Rover Discovery has two engine options, one regular gasoline, and a diesel. The gas engine, the Si6, is a 3.0-liter V6 with a Roots-type twin vortex supercharger, making 340 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. It goes from zero to 60 in 6.9 seconds, has a top speed of 130 MPH, and can tow up to 8,201 pounds when properly equipped. Available towing aids include Tow Hitch Assist with a touchscreen, Rear Height Adjust (included with electronic air suspension), and Tow Assist camera.

The Discovery’s diesel engine, the Td6, is a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 254 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, going from zero to 60 in 7.7 seconds. The diesel’s towing capacity, when properly equipped, is 7,716 pounds.

Comfort and Convenience

The Land Rover Discovery trims include SE, HSE, and HSE Luxury. The two lower trims come standard with five seats and an optional third row, while the HSE Luxury includes a standard power third row. Additionally, all models are available with heated front and rear seats.

The Discovery SE is equipped with the Seat Package 2, including grained leather seating and 12-way front seat adjustment. The HSE has the Seat Package 3 with Windsor leather, 16-way front seats, and driver seat memory. This trim is also available with a power third row, electrically reclining rear seats, Seat Package 4 (below), heated and cooled seats, heated third row, and Intelligent Seat Fold.

The highest trim has the Seat Package 4, which gives you Windsor leather seats, 16-way front seating, driver seat memory, and massage function. This trim is also available with the Seat Package 5, adding power seating, and is standard or available with all noted features for the Discovery HSE.

Safety and Technology

The Land Rover Discovery is equipped with the latest in driver assistive technology to predict and react to unsafe situations on the road. All models come standard or optional with Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist, Front and Rear Parking Aid, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Condition Monitor, Park Assist, Surround Camera System, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Limiter, Blind Spot Monitor with Reverse Traffic Detection, and Blind Spot Assist. Upper trims add Lane Keep Assist.

Standard infotainment includes a 10-inch touchscreen display, Enhanced Sound System, Bluetooth, Navigation pro, Wi-Fi hotspot, InControl Apps, and Protect and Remote telematics systems. The HSE adds Meridian Sound, Sirius XM Radio, Interactive Driver Display, and available Rear Seat Entertainment and Head-Up Display.
