The Discovery Sport is the most affordable Land Rover but will leave you wanting for nothing. With off-road capability, luxe features and tech, and one of the most comfortable cabins in its class, the 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport is already one of Albany’s favorites.

New Yorkers who want to know more about this next-level luxury SUV can check out all the details below, then visit us to get behind the wheel.

Performance and Off-Road Ability

The new Discovery Sport comes with two engine options. The base is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that makes 237 horsepower and 251 lb-ft of torque, and you can upgrade to a version that makes 286 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Both variants come with a 9-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive. Additionally, the 2018 Discovery Sport has a towing capacity of 4,409 pounds, so it can haul your boat or recreational equipment with ease.

Land Rover also equipped this SUV with Terrain Response with four settings: General Driving, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts, and Sand. The All Terrain Progress Control system further helps you traverse any terrain, letting you maintain a slow, controlled speed while getting through tricky situations. Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, and Gradient Release Control make the mountains of Upstate New York as easy to navigate as city streets, while Adaptive Dynamics, Torque Vectoring, and Active Driveline ensure you stay fully grounded around curves and corners.

Comfort and Convenience

The 2018 Discovery Sport features two rows of seating for five passengers, and has the option to add a third row to seat up to seven people. If you choose the third row, you’ll be glad to know it folds flat for added cargo space when needed. The second row folds 60/40 and reclines, which the kids will love during long road trips. Seating options include partial leather (SE trim), perforated grained leather (SE and HSE), and perforated Windsor leather (HSE and HSE Luxury).

The Discovery Sport comes equipped with a leather steering wheel, 10-way front seats, two-zone climate control, ambient interior lighting, and the Remote and Protect system. The HSE adds a fixed panoramic roof, 12-way seats with memory, and auto-dimming, power-fold door mirrors with memory and approach lights. The HSE Luxury features Configurable Ambient Interior Lighting, premium carpet, and added exterior features.

Entertainment and Technology

The 2018 Discovery Sport is equipped with InControl infotainment system. InControl Touch includes an 8-inch touchscreen with either the Land Rover Enhanced Sound System with 10 speakers or the Meridian Sound System with 11 speakers and subwoofer. You also have the option to include Protect telematics (SOS Emergency Call, Land Rover Optimized Assistance, and Remote app), as well as Navigation with voice recognition, Sirius XM Radio, InControl Apps, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

InControl Touch Pro includes a 10-inch touchscreen, Meridian sound with 17 speakers, Navigation Pro, voice recognition, DVD/CD player, Pro Services (including Wi-Fi), and Protect telematics.
